I was so excited to try the Fuzzi Bunz Perfect Size diaper for my 23-month-old son. I don’t expect him to be potty-trained for at least another year, and I am so tired on spending money on disposable diapers. (I am also tired of creating so much garbage with dirty diapers!) Within one hour of drinking eight ounces of liquid, and just two hours of wearing the Fuzzi Bunz, the so called “waterproof” covering on the diaper was wet. . . and of course, my son’s shorts were also wet! I am very disappointed. I am glad I only bought one!
I love Fuzzi Bunz- pretty much everything about them. The only thing I would advise- don’t buy white! It turns yellowish over time.
I mostly use prefolds and wrap for cloth diapering, but I love having some Fuzzi Bunz pocket diapers around. I particularly like have my son wear them at night as the fleece helps keep him dryer. Plus, I think they look cute!!
these are GREAT! I bought some other cloth diapers that are lined with flannel but they don’t compare to these fleece ones. The flannel are always wet against my son’s skin even when he only goes a little. The fleece are quite a bit more expensive but well worth it. The wetness seems to draw into the padding & away from his skin. However I do buy the flushable liners from the ‘other’ company for easy disposal of the solids & they work just as well with FuzziBunz.
I wish I had figured out the above with our first child. Zero rashes, no blowouts, easy to care for, better for the environment. I went with sized fuzzi bunz because I like the trim fit better than the one size and I had heard bad things about bum genius velcro wearing out. A lot of people who cloth diaper treat it like a hobby with lots of styles and the “collect them all” mentality. Not me– I want one thing that works and this is it. I use one disposable at night because I don’t want to bother coming up with a perfect night time solution and I’ll use 7th gen when we travel too. I bought about half used and bought some new too. When the baby grows out of these I’ll resell them for half price. Almost free diapers! They really retain their value.
We live in an apartment building and don’t have access to fancy rinse cycles so I wash once with a bit of Charlie’s Soap (hot) and then wash once with some white vinegar (hot) to make sure the soap rinses out. The vinegar helps any odors go away which can be a problem with synthetic diapers (but not mine). I’ve never needed to strip. The key is wash every other day or two and use very little soap so you don’t get detergent buildup.
