I got rid of the Diaper Genie II and bought the Diaper Dekor instead. . . we’ve been very happy with the Diaper Dekor and recommend that.

- holds very few diapers — must be changed every few days
(Diaper Dekor holds at 5x as many diapers. . . and only needs to be changed weekly, every 8-9 days)
- refill does not last very long. . . gets expensive
(Diaper Dekor refill lasts forever — like 2 months, I think! Way cheaper. . . )
- what I hated most: I scratched up my hands every time I stuck a diaper in it. . . there is a plastic ring around the refill that sticks out. . . I honestly bled almost every time. It was awful.
(Diaper Dekor has a step pedal, so hands never have to go inside. )

- don’t really have a problem with smell control with either of these, but our 6mo old is exclusively breastfed and of course, smells like roses :-)

Yes there are some nice new features included with the Diaper Genie II Elite system but the odor that comes from this contraption is so disgusting. This item by no means keeps odors from filling up a room. My wife and I gag each time we need to put a diaper in it. To be honest the regular Diaper Genie II does a much better job with the odors. Playtex you have got to be kidding with this product!! Did you even test it out?? STAY AWAY!!!

The same Playtex Diaper Genie II Elite system offered by AMAZON. com for $79. 99 can be purchased @ Target, Walmart and Kids-R-Us for $40. 00 or less! Eventhough AMAZON. com may offer free shipping, it’s twice the price. Buyers beware!

I just paid $100 for this item. It is at Target and elsewhere for under $40. It would never have occurred to me that I could be ripped off like this on Amazon.

Bought this pail 6 weeks ago for a new baby, and already I’ve had to (attempt) to fix the lid/closing system (to no avail) and have burned through two of the bag replacements. I bought it on a whim and that lack of thought cost me. We have a simple foot-pedal diaper pail that cost me around $15 in 200 and its worked great since. I will be tossing this overpriced “system” and buying a simple pail tomorrow. Skip this altogether and save your money — a simple pail and garbage bags work just fine.
